Luran® ECO and NAS® ECO, our SAN and SMMA advanced styrenic products, are proving to be a big hit with our household customers.
Luran ECO and NAS ECO are both highly transparent styrenic copolymer solutions manufactured out of styrene from bio-circular (BC) or bio-based (BB) e feedstock n. Their feedstock sources, supply chain and production processes have been awarded ISCC PLUS certification, which means they comply with the highest sustainability certification criteria.
As part of our ECO product portfolio, both product groups have identical physical and mechanical properties as their fossil-based counterparts Luran and NAS, enabling a drop-in solution for our customers with no new regulatory approvals needed.
In EMEA, Luran ECO is available with a renewable feedstock content ranging from 60% to 80%. This results in a carbon footprint reduction of 77% to 99% compared to fossil-based Luran. NAS ECO is available in EMEA with a renewable feedstock content of at least 70%. This results in a carbon footprint reduction of 79% to 93% compared to fossil-based NAS.
What customers want
So far, the biggest interest for both product groups has been the household industry with customers which have concrete sustainability targets to bring down their product carbon footprint (PCF). We are also seeing interest from the construction and compounding and healthcare industries. Various world-leading brands are currently testing the bio-circular materials produced at our site in Ludwigshafen, Germany.
Luran and NAS ECO are both excellent transparent direct-drop-in solution for customers which require a reduction of their product carbon footprint. For running applications, both ECO materials do not require a re-qualification as they share identical product properties and regulatory status towards their fossil-based counterparts. Being a drop-in solution, it does not compromise clarity, performance, or regulatory compliance, thus allowing the production of sustainable end applications with high quality standards.
